Walking for Reconciliation
Planning for the Walking for Reconciliation Event has been delayed. It is hoped that a new date for this important event will be announced in the near future. Please check back with this website Historically, people have walked together to express their commitment to new beginnings. Gandhi led the Salt March for Indian independence in 1930. The civil rights marches of the 1960s called for equality for African-Americans. And, Vancouver's Walks for Peace in the mid-80s were devoted to ending the arms race.
To commemorate British Columbia's 150th anniversary (sesquacentenniel) the People Together Foundation is working together with Aboriginal and non-aboriginal people to create an event that signifies the turning of a page in our history and celebrates new relationships, new possibilities and a future that reflects the very best we have to offer.
Multifaith Action Society is a Partner in Reconciliation working with the People Together Foundation, and serving on the steering committee to plan and implement the Walk for Reconciliation.
